Monday, December 14

Today the class practiced the vocabulary and became familiar with the use off the Subjunctive with Cuando.  There is no assignment for tonight other than to begin preparing for the final exam.

Friday, December 11

Today the class continued working with the Chapter 9 Vocabulary.  The class also became familiar with the use of the Subjunctive with Non-existence.  The assignment for tonight is in the Practice Workbook pp 9-7, 9-8.

Thursday, December 10

Today, the class began working with the Chapter 9 Vocabulary.  The assignment is in the Practice Workbook pp 9-1 and 9-3.

Tuesday, December 8

Today, the class started the Chapter 8 exam.  Unfortunately, today's minimum day made it impossible to finish.  We'll have to finish it tomorrow.  So...if my students are smart, they are going through the book and their notes tonight to figure out the sections that they didn't understand today.

Today we reviewed for the Chapter 8 Exam.  The assignment for tonight is to study.

Friday, December 4

The class took a vocabulary quiz and reviewed verbs that are irregular in the subjunctive.  The assignment is in the Practice Workbook pp 8-7, 8-8.

Wednesday, December 2

The class practiced the vocabulary and began working with the Present Perfect of the Subjunctive.  The assignment is in the Practice Workbook p 8-9.

Tuesday, December 1

Today we reviewed the Chapter 8 Vocabulary and began working with the Subjunctive with Doubt and Denial.  The class completed a practice worksheet and an A/B activity.  The assignment for tonight is in the Practice Workbook 8-5, 8-6.

There will be a vocabulary quiz on Friday 12/4.

Welcome back from the Thanksgiving break.  I hope everyone enjoyed the time with family.  Today we continued working with the Chapter 8 Vocabulary.  We completed a crossword and translated the reading on p 265.  The assignment for tonight is in the Practice Workbook 8-3, 8-4.

Today we continued practicing the use of the subjunctive mood.  We also began a listening practice.  The assignment for tonight is in the Practice Workbook 7-7, 7-8.

Today we practiced the vocabulary and began working with the Subjunctive Mood.  Tonight's assignment is a subjunctive worksheet.

Today we reviewed the use of double object pronouns and began working with formal commands.  We did a practice activity with commands.  The assignment for this weekend is a commands worksheet.

Thursday, November 5

I was out today taking care of a sick boy, so my classes practiced their listening skills by watching a video in Spanish.  Friday's test will be postponed until Tuesday, 11/10.

Wednesday, November 4

Today, we reviewed the future tense, the vocabulary and we began working the the double object pronouns. The assignment for tonight is the double pronoun worksheet.

There will be an exam on Chapter 6 on Friday, 11/6.

Tuesday, November 3

Today we had a vocabulary quiz.  The class read "Una Carta a Dios" on pp 458-461 and answered comprehension questions.  At the end we did a practice activity for the future tense.  The Assignment for tonight is a future tense worksheet.

Today we reviewed the vocabulary in preparation for a quiz tomorrow.  We also began working with the future tense.  The assignment for tonight is in the Practice workbook 6-5, 6-6.

Friday, October 30

Today was day 2 with the new vocabulary.  We practiced it as a class, then in groups with a crossword puzzle and the individually by translating p 201.  The assignment for tonight is in the Practice Workbook 6-3, 6-4.

There will be a vocabulary quiz on Tuesday, 11/3.

Have a safe and enjoyable Halloween...but please don't trick or treat.  Trick or treating is for little kids and you are too old!  Senior citizens can be frightened by 16 year-olds pounding on their doors demanding candy.  Take your younger siblings or cousins trick-or-treating, but don't scare the old people.  If you want candy that badly, get a job and buy it.

Today we corrected the Chapter 5 exams.  We also began working on the Chapter 6 vocabulary.  Today's assignment is in the Practice Workbook 6-1, 6-2.

Today we had an exam covering Chapter 5.  Tonight's homework is the vocabulary on page 221.

Monday, October 26

Today we took a vocabulary quiz and practiced the pluperfect tense.  We also reviewed the use of seguir + the present participle to express the idea "to keep on _____ing."  Today's assignment is in the Practice Workbook 5-9.

There will be a chapter exam on Wednesday, 10/28.

Friday, October 23

Today we practiced the vocabulary and learned about the use of the pluperfect tense. We also saw a History Channel documentary about the ancient Mayas.  There will be extra credit questions from the documentary on the chapter exam next week.  The assignment for today is in the Practice Workbook 5-7, 5-8.

There will be a vocabulary quiz on Monday, October 26.

October 22

Today we practiced vocabulary and reviewed the uses of time experessions with hacer. The assignment for tonight is 5-5 in the practice workbook.

Today we practiced vocabulary in class and with a crossword. The homework is in the Practice Workbook 5-2, 5-3.

OK folks, I have posted all of the lecture notes for chapter 5. Let me know if they are useful to you.

Chapter 5 is about the ancient Mayas. We will read about, discuss and see a documentary about the rise and fall of Mayan civilization. The grammar points that we cover will be: Time expressions with hacer, The plueperfect (past perfect) and seguir with the present participle.
