Friday, October 30

Today was day 2 with the new vocabulary.  We practiced it as a class, then in groups with a crossword puzzle and the individually by translating p 201.  The assignment for tonight is in the Practice Workbook 6-3, 6-4.

There will be a vocabulary quiz on Tuesday, 11/3.

Have a safe and enjoyable Halloween...but please don't trick or treat.  Trick or treating is for little kids and you are too old!  Senior citizens can be frightened by 16 year-olds pounding on their doors demanding candy.  Take your younger siblings or cousins trick-or-treating, but don't scare the old people.  If you want candy that badly, get a job and buy it.

Thursday, October 29

Today we corrected the Chapter 5 exams.  We also began working on the Chapter 6 vocabulary.  Today's assignment is in the Practice Workbook 6-1, 6-2.

Wednesday, October 28

Today we had an exam covering Chapter 5.  Tonight's homework is the vocabulary on page 221.

Tuesday, October 27

Today we reviewed for tomorrow's Chapter 5 Exam.  The assignment is to study.

Monday, October 26

Today we took a vocabulary quiz and practiced the pluperfect tense.  We also reviewed the use of seguir + the present participle to express the idea "to keep on _____ing."  Today's assignment is in the Practice Workbook 5-9.

There will be a chapter exam on Wednesday, 10/28.

Friday, October 23

Today we practiced the vocabulary and learned about the use of the pluperfect tense. We also saw a History Channel documentary about the ancient Mayas.  There will be extra credit questions from the documentary on the chapter exam next week.  The assignment for today is in the Practice Workbook 5-7, 5-8.

There will be a vocabulary quiz on Monday, October 26.

October 22

Today we practiced vocabulary and reviewed the uses of time experessions with hacer. The assignment for tonight is 5-5 in the practice workbook.

Wednesday, October 21

Today we practiced vocabulary in class and with a crossword. The homework is in the Practice Workbook 5-2, 5-3.

OK folks, I have posted all of the lecture notes for chapter 5. Let me know if they are useful to you.

Chapter 5 is about the ancient Mayas. We will read about, discuss and see a documentary about the rise and fall of Mayan civilization. The grammar points that we cover will be: Time expressions with hacer, The plueperfect (past perfect) and seguir with the present participle.
